WebYou can use acryllic/oil brushes if you want to paint thicker, but the rougher brushes can really tear up your surface if you are painting on paper. Watercolor brushes hold more water for transparent color, and are more gentle on the surface. I think it depends on what surface you are painting on and how you paint with the gouache. WebHolbein is a wonderful brand, though if you go with the 18 tube 5ml set, the magenta and violet in there do not rewet well AT ALL! They are super opaque, clean and creamy out of the tube, though. More so than W&N. Quite a few of their paints have white added, though. Schmincke Horadam and M. Graham are my personal favourites as an overall brand.
