It's a free MMO that is taking some elements of Monster Hunter, and completely fails to emulate them correctly. Just so you know in case you want to try Dauntless first. You shouldn't play it to see if you'll like Monster Hunter, because those are two different games.

Rise tried to make it into a fast paced action combo fighting game without changing the core mechanics that MH is built around, leading to a frustrating mess that is impossible to enjoy.
WebDauntless isnt a bad game, but if you already have MH (and here i count even the older ones) why would you bother? Its a free game. WebFeb 18, 2024 · As for Dauntless, to me it's basically a Monster Hunter with half (or less) of the content. It was fun for a bit, but quickly got old. Ymmv though.The lack of weapons and fun combat was the biggest drawback to me, the weapons they have are boring (to me) and they only have 6 weapons last I checked. Edit: It's only upside is that it's free.

Reason is rather simple actually: MH is so "technical" - Choose mission choose food choose gear and items to support, go on mission for 5-20m, go back to town, check quest check deliveries - and repeat at choose mission.
