WebCefazolin injection is in a class of medications called cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria. Antibiotics such as cefazolin injection will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. Taking antibiotics when they are not needed increases your risk of getting an infection later that resists antibiotic treatment. WebCefazolin injection is indicated for the treatment of septicemia due to S. pneumoniae, S. aureus, P. mirabilis, and E. coliin adults and pediatric patients for whom appropriate dosing with this formulation can be achieved [see Dosage and Administration (2.1, 2.2, 2.4 and 2.5) and Use in Specific Populations (8.4)].
