WebMay 8, 2015 · The more closed the grip, the slower it is to point. I think that the more the closed the grip is, the more stable the aim though. With a heavier varmint rifle I like closed grips, with lighter rifles that need to get on target fast I like open grips. My 358 BLR (old style) is a straight grip.
